Mini Moto

Mini Moto motorcycles are true miniature styled GP racing motorcycles. The large Italian manufacturers such as polini, crafted these "mini-racers" and they are very accurate in respect to their relationship to full scale Moto GP bikes. Top level race mini motos will feature fully floating disc brakes, racing compound tyres, full aerodynamic fairings, hi-tech aluminum/magnesium alloy cast tubular-frame and swingarms. The typical mini moto is powered by a single cylinder 2 stoke, air or water cooled engine, with an engine size ranging from 39cc to 49cc. These motorcycles are works of art in miniature.

Engine horsepowers range from 2.4 hp up to a fully blown race spec 15hp that can reach speeds up to 70+ mph! One of the main attractions to this sport is tuning. The relative low cost and availability of replacement and tuning parts make it easy. Any mini moto pocket bike can be upgraded and tuned in many different ways depending on your requirement and budget.

Mini Motos are at their best in sport competition. A standard factory 6.2 horsepower machine can hit 50+ mph and provides all the thrills of MotoGP style motorcycle racing. Knee sliding turns and flat out straights, all just inches from the ground, these are the thrills that only minimoto racing can provide. In addition racing a mini moto is the most affordable motor sport, and a typical Chinese manufactured starter bike can cost as little as just £150.00! This sport can also provide it's contribution to open-road motorcycle driving safety. Riding skills like balance, self-control, agility and fast reaction Mini Moto racing and riding is providing will be invaluable when using big bikes on open roads as well.

Because of their small "pocket bike" size Mini Motos can be easily transported in your family car, in the boot or back seat! The recent explosion of racing fellow bikers in parking lot competitions or on go-kart tracks makes this one of the world's fastest growing motor sports.

The bikes are suitable for any age rider from 6 year old juniors up to 16 stone adults. Polini, Blata, GRC, etc are the thoroughbreds of minimotos and are therefore intended for competition. These particular bikes are designed to be used for racing only, costing upwards of £1000.00. They are not designed or approved for highway use, and should never be used on public roads. Protective gear, ie, helmet, gloves, knee, elbow and back protection and good ankle supporting shoes should be worn at all times to minimize the chance of injury. We would advise children under the age of 18 to operate these or any other motorized devices only under the strict supervision of an adults.

Many international MotoGP World Champions have started their career on Mini Motos. Valentino Rossi being the best know example. He was Italian Pocketbike Champ twice before becoming 125cc, 250cc, 500cc and several time 1000cc MotoGP World Champion. Thomas Luethi is the first Swiss Pocketbike Junior Champion that made it into the Moto World Championship. Followed by Vincent Braillard. No doubt that there will be more top ex mini moto pocket bike riders to come, the many world wide Pocketbike Championships being the best providers of the next generation of Moto Gp stars. Some of them are already up and coming...
